Dear Parents and Class 215,
I hope you all have been enjoying the Thanksgiving break. Our first day back from vacation, Monday, November 30, will begin our class's service learning partnerships. Mrs. York and Mr. Austin's class had their successful first visit last Monday.
As you know, the majority of our class will walk to Metro School directly after Greet the Week, leaving around 8:30 am on foot. Students who are working with The Epiphany School will be driven by Mrs. Browne for this first visit, finishing around 9:15. Our hope is that the students who go to The Epiphany School can be driven to Metro School to walk back to Trinity with the rest of the class who will finish with Metro School at 9:30.
ALL STUDENTS:
Note: The current weather forecast predicts it will be in the mid 50's and rainy on Monday morning. We request that your child dress in a jacket so they can stay warm and dry. We will have a limited amount of time at Metro School, and it would be best if students aren't overly-distracted on how cold or wet they are, especially on this long-awaited first visit!
If you are one of the six parents chaperoning this first visit and plan to meet us at The Metro School, you will need to arrive by 8:50 to get signed in by 9:00 am (please do not be late or you will not be able to join us in the classroom). If you plan to walk with us we will be leaving right after Greet the Week. Thank you so much for joining us on this special partnership!
These 2 quotes are on the cover of students' service learning journals: I hope they will help guide our experiences as we learn about service together.
“To serve is beautiful, but only if it is done with joy and a whole heart and a free mind.” ---Pearl S. Buck, Writer
“Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference. And we have a choice: What sort of difference do we want to make?”
---Jane Goodall
I am truly thankful for my Trinity family and all of the wonderful experiences TES offers - Service Learning being one of them. We are all so excited for this long-awaited opportunity to learn and grow in service to our neighbors at Metro and Epiphany.
